Familiarize Yourself with Our Values
Accountability
“It’s okay that life happens. What matters is that you make it right as best as you can.”
- We consider how our behaviours are impacting other people
- We pay for any damage we, our pets, or our guests cause
- We observe quiet hours 11 PM – 7 AM
Kindness
“You can accomplish by kindness what you cannot by force.” – Publilius Syrus
- We encourage direct, clear, kind conflict resolution
- We support progressive improvements and work with each other
- If they haven’t changed the behaviour, continue direct communication
- Assume best intentions about other people. They probably are not trying to ruin your life by leaving dishes in the sink or making noise late at night; and they need to know it’s bothering you to change. Be polite and compassionate. If you don’t know how, ask chatgpt.com
- We facilitate resolutions where necessary
More Values
Communication
“People can’t fix what they don’t know they’re doing.”
-
- We maintain a calm, kind, compassionate demeanor when resolving conflict
- We recognize everyone makes mistakes but sometimes they must be made aware to fix it
Respect
"Ask first!"
- We foster an inclusive house culture that welcomes folks regardless of race, gender, sex, origin, religion, ability, or creed
- Leave communal spaces better than you found them.
- You may only enter another’s room, touch or eat their food, borrow anything of theirs, or give them a hug/touch them with their permission
